Boys & Girls

Do you think that mothers of only girls ever wish they had boys?

95% of the time I am so happy and satisfied with my boys, but every now & again, like when I see a darling little girl at church, I have a longing for a little girl.

So, I wonder, do mothers of girls ever long a bit for a boy? Do fathers? I think it's a valid question.

You're completely speaking to me. I have to say I ALWAYS thought Iwanted the girl experience but as the boys have grown I do believe they are so much simpler and have actually become thankful that I have all boys. The day-to-day girl thing I don't miss (what to wear each day, multiple pairs of shoes, the drama, etc). I do miss the excuse to buy the fun colored wrapping paper, artsy notebooks/journals and all the fun preteen items - flavored chapsticks, cool waterbottles, hair ties, the excuse to go see the Nutcracker at Xmas.

Can't answer this one, having 2 of both... But I will be honest and say there are days that I wish I DID NOT have to deal with middle school girl drama and missing the bus because her hair isn't just right and that I'm thankful to be balanced out. I have a good friend with all girls, I fell sorry for the father...

We were out to dinner the other night and saw a family walk in with six (yes, SIX) very blonde daughters in the age range of 2 to about 12 (if that)! Right there I thanked Rob for being from a family of boys and for not wanting to have a lot of kids! My dreams for a girl are VERY few and far between. I love my friends' girls but I am thrilled to have the wonderful 100% wild and crazy boy that I have. Nothing better than him telling me that I am the prettiest mommy in the world!

Of course I have wanted a girl, but not badly enough to keep trying till we got one. I am very happy with my two spirited, healthy boys. I love the glimpses into the men they will be. Sometimes I can hardly wait till they are taller than me - I want to see who they are going to be!

Having said that, I do get twinges for girls. Not for the pink or the frills or the future shopping trips - but for the personality. The emotional intelligence I see in some of my friends' daughters - pretty cool stuff. :)
