Article & Pride

Here is a nice article from The Flathead Beacon about the re-energizing of Flathead High. I have attended three varsity events...football, volleyball and soccer, and would agree that the whole atmosphere is much more positive and spunky than it has been the past two years. Last year was, ugh, but now we have clean cut looking cheerleaders who actually cheer and tons of parents and students who are really taking pride in being from Flathead. It's very encouraging to see!

Now for the Pride bit...

Last week Scott told me he won an award from the state. "What one?" I said. He wasn't sure what it was called (which is why we haven't told anyone), but he knew it was for his work on domestic violence. Well, today he received the award from the state Attorney General Steve Bullock (who flew in specially for the occasion). It was very cool to hear how well thought of he is by the people he works with. Two ladies from the Violence Free Crisis Line nominated him along with his police chief. They gave him to nomination packet which is pretty cool. And the award is called The Excellence in Responding to Intimate Partner Violence Award. I didn't know this, but in 2008 he investigated 142 cases of domestic violence.

Here's what one person (I think it was the Violence Free Crisis Line Coordinator) said in his nomination.."We cannot begin to express our desire to see Officer Scott Warnell receive this award. He is a humble, hard-working, devoted and compassionate man and officer. There are no newspaper articles to submit about him as he is that proverbial officer who does whatever it takes to see that offenders are held accountable and that victims and well informed and safe. In 28 years in the field I have never worked with an officer who is excellent in law enforcement as well as a caring and compassionate advocate for victims as Detective Warnell is. His ethics are above reproach. He is positive and what a gift it is to work with an officer who is optimistic and even fun to work with."

And the assistant city attorney wrote..."In addition to his work as a peace officer, Sgt. Warnell is a wonderful human being. I believe myself lucky to work with him on a daily basis and count him as a friend. He is fair minded, ethical, industrious and always upbeat and cheerful He's great!"

So, he's pretty great...but you all already knew that.

Very cool. A police office and a public school librarian. With cute kids. So grateful I'm part of the community you serve.

Congratulations Scott - we're all very proud of you! And you should be nicer to your mother-in=law or she'll tell them the truth about you.

You're awesome Scott!! But Jana's right, we all already knew that, including Jeanne Rae, who I recall saying she'd get rid of Jana before she'd get rid of you. :-)

You must feel pretty pumped up right now....and rightfully so. In today's world it's always encouraging to hear "the good guy" getting recognition. Well deserved - tell Scott congrats from us and let him know that Trey even sleeps with his police badge on some nights. Clearly our family is but one of many he has left a positive impact on. Smiles to your whole family.
